Unleashing Xylan's Potential with Enzymes for a Scope of Consumer Products

Enxylascope
aims
at
bioprospecting
and
producing
a
novel
set
of
xylan
debranching
enzymes
with
high
catalytic
activity
and
wide
operation
conditions,
thereby
demonstrating
its
ability
to
make
xylan
a
key
ingredient
in
a
variety
of
consumer
products.
TO THIS AIM
THE PROJECT WILL:
01.
Establish a process flow diagram including all process nodes, inputs, and outputs streams of the xylan conversion process using enzymes.
02.
Discover and characterise 4 novel xylan debranching enzymes by using multi-omics and high-throughput screening (HTPS) methods.
03.
Establish efficient and viable production systems for the selected enzymes.
04.
Introduce enzymatically modified xylan in consumer products by using product specific enzyme cocktails.
05.
Pilot the production of 4 enzymes and application testing of cosmetic, personal care, and nutraceutical products.
06.
Assess regulatory compliance and market acceptance of those consumer products.
The
potential
of
these
exploitable
results
as
well
as
the
applicability
of
modified
xylans
in
the
production
systems
of
commercial
products
will
be
demonstrated
in
6
new
commercial
products
in
the
cosmetics,
personal
care
and
nutraceutical
sectors.
