This preprint presents the final social assessment report (D7.4) of the EnXylaScope project, funded under the EU Horizon 2020 programme (Grant No. 101000831). The study investigates the social sustainability impacts of an enzyme-assisted biorefinery concept for xylan extraction and modification. By employing a social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) and SWOT analysis, the report identifies potential social risks and benefits along the xylan value chain, including supply chain risks, labor conditions, and community impacts. Key findings highlight opportunities for responsible sourcing, fair supplier engagement, and local economic benefits in rural areas. This preprint is currently under review by the European Commission and subject to further revisions.
